Welcome to today’s blog where we are interviewing Colin Peers (over 60s manager) a few days before they compete in the Welsh Finals.

Firstly Colin, Congratulations to Hawarden Strollers on winning the Over 60s North & Mid Wales League. How do you feel the season went?
Overall, I think we have had an excellent season, and I’m really pleased with how the team has progressed this year. Our squad has changed over the season, and we’ve had a number of different players playing their part. All have made contributions and helped us achieve success this year.
I’m surprised at how much we have achieved and how well we have done. But, having won the League and the Neston Cup is something that I and all the players are very proud of.
The team played in the Finals last year, what did you learn from that experience?
Firstly, we will be up against some good teams, and that we need to ready to go from the first whistle. After that, we’ll see how things go on the day.
What’s your expectations for Sunday?
That we show the best of Hawarden Strollers, on and off the pitch. We are a good passing team, and we have a collection of talented footballers who will hopefully perform really well on the day.

What’s the format for Sunday?
It is a league with 5 teams, Hawarden Strollers, Prestatyn, Merthyr Police, Barry Town and Abercynon. We play each other (20 min games), and the winner of the league becomes Welsh Over 60s Champions.
Thanks for your time, Colin, and good luck to you and the 60s team for Sunday!
